the maquette

FALL 2022
Mumbai, India

The 2022 Tectonics & Stereonomics project, The Structural Maquette, challenged my knowledge and understanding of structural systems. Given the structural plans and sections of the Palmyra House, located in Mumbai, India, I was instructed to build the structure out of balsa wood, and develop three “skins” for the exterior of the building.

The architect’s intent was to create a residential space that provided an escape from the bustle of the city and promoted a calm and peaceful environment. I decided on the materials for the skins that coexist with the natural environment including leaves, sticks and pine needles.

EARLY WORK

SUMMER 2020
Richmond, VA

Exploratory design work done in the summer of 2020 through Virginia Tech's online Inside Architecture + Design program. Projects explored the interconnectedness of elements of space. Exploring open and closed aspects we experimented with shape and form with paper.
